I saw this blurb in the magazine I receive for having an Accredited Buyer Representation (ABR) designation. The question: Ok, exactly how many homes are there in the U.S.?
According to The Real Estate Professional,
(Washington, D.C.) - For those of you who have wondered just how may living dwellings there are in the United States, the census Bureau has provided the answer: There were 128.2 million in 2007, an increase from 124.4 million the last time a count wa taken in 2005.
The current population of the U.S. is about 305 million.
I haven’t been able to find an accurate number for the total number of homes that have been foreclosed on this past year… numbers range from one to two million. However, CNN.com reports,
The number of homes going into foreclosure in 2008 is on track to hit 2.2 million…
It said 1 out of every 10 homes is in foreclosure or preforeclosure. That’s some scary stuff.
