When President-Elect Barack Obama’s administration comes to Washington in January, I’m wondering if one campaign promise – to encourage alternate sources of energy – will come to fruition. My confidence is so great that last night I made a small stock market investment in a company that builds solar panels.
When I checked the stock this morning, it had gone from $2.88 p/share to $.61. Oh my. Right now it’s up to $2.95 p/share. I rarely go to casinos and have only when I attended conferences held at those locales. But when I go in, I severely limit myself to the amount I can pop into a slot machine. When my handful of quarters are gone, I’m all done. I’m not a big gambler, so watching this stock market go up and down is going to make me very nervous. However, the Motley Fool is predicting that solar energy companies may be the next megatrend – bigger even than when the Internet stocks soared.
Maybe my little investment will be a good one in the next five years. I am hopeful that builders and homeowners will start adding solar panels to their homes!
