    It Closed

Hand_signing_paper_small_2 I tossed and turned all night - woke several times in a sweat.  My seller did call a couple of times yesterday and was pretty calm, but my husband suggested it was the calm before the storm.  I asked my broker to lend his support by being present at the closing.

I arrived and the seller continued to be very pleasant.  I explained that I invited my broker to attend because I felt after our discussion two days ago, he might want the opportunity to speak with him.  He waved his hand and said, "Nah. We’re cool."

I called my broker and reassured him that I felt safe because the seller was calm and there were several other professionals attending (the loan officer and closing attorney).

The closing was amazingly smooth.  I held my breath a time or two, especially while the closing attorney reviewed the settlement statement.  But I’d already gone over it with him in detail (remember the shouting and accusations?), so there were no surprises.

The only "challenge" if you will was the seller had asked yesterday if he’d be able to cash his check right away and I was told by the closing attorney that yes he could.  The money hadn’t been wired by the time we closed, but we worked the glitch out.

So I survived.  I was afraid you’d be hearing about my brutal slaying on the nightly news tonight.  Instead I’m trying to relax, chill, chillax.  A part of me wants to fuhgetaboutit, but I don’t think I ever will.  Instead, I’ll learn the lesson that although you carefully explain things to people - in great detail - sometimes they don’t hear you.

Thanks for your positive thoughts and prayers.
