Hot Town, Summer in the City

My oh my it’s hot outside.  And it’s sticky.  I hate it when it’s sticky.  With temperatures holding steady in the three digits, the only relief is by going indoors.  My electric bill will be hideous this month and I’m certain my stomach will be filled with butterflies when I see that envelope in the mail box.

Ac1 The good news is that Alice at Futuregirl(dot)com is showing us the way to insulate our homes on the cheap.  Read what she can do with white sheets, mylar emergency blankets, and neodymium magnets, then wander on over to see how to build your own air conditioner on the cheap!  Photo from original link how-to make your own AC post.

Evolving in Kansas talks about not just keeping your home cool, but also keeping yourself, your family, and your pets cool.  After having just spent three days in a popular theme park, let me say that you can’t possible drink too much water when perspiration is pouring out of you.  My favorite two places in the parks were the little kiddie splash area in the water park and standing in front of the massive fans that were scattered throughout that must’ve had freon spraying from them.  Those were absolute lifesavers.  And don’t be afraid to apply sunscreen every hour.
