We learned early this morning that my husband’s best friend was found deceased in his townhome in Atlanta. We loved him dearly, but always feared this would happen. In thinking about this wonderful friend and then thinking about writing a post today for Shak & Jill, my thoughts turned to selling homes where people have passed away.
There was a home listed several years ago that used its ghosts as a marketing plus. The owner had gone to an old battlefield and said before he left, "If any of you ghosts want to come home with me, hop on in!" After that, he identified at least four ghosts who would often visit, including two allegedly trouble-making children. He eventually had to exorcise them back to the cemetary.
But how do you sell a house where someone died? Would you want to buy one? Real estate investor Eric Medemar talks about one of his properties and the experiences of his tenant. Be warned the blog definitely has the feel of a "commercial" site, but it was an interesting story he told.
Sheila of Yo Chicago talked about the lady some buyers found a couple of weeks ago in this post. I also blogged about it right here, then another body was found here. Oh my. If you want to read some really freaky stuff, go to Your Ghost Stories - here’s one about someone who smelled a ghost (an old man smell). Mary Pope-Handy says some homes give off happy or sad feelings and I know exactly what she’s talking about! I’ve gone into homes and couldn’t get out of there fast enough! Mary has her own site dedicated to haunted real estate… go check her out!
Meanwhile, I’m going to grieve our friend and will try to not be so sad the next time I post. Thank you for letting me remember Lindell.
