I didn’t watch the program on 60 Minutes last night. But I’ve already heard about it. An agent with my company popped her head in my office asking, "Did you SEE 60 Minutes?!?!"
Whitecomb(Dot)Com posted his reaction to the story. Inman News, a major real estate news service, says NAR has indicated we should be glad it’s Mother’s Day. The consumers at buyers(dot)com have a different take on the story.
I charge a six percent or a seven percent commission, but will sometimes negotiate depending on the situation (and depending whether or not my broker gives me permission). When I work with clients, I give them 100%, including lots of photos, a visual tour, lots of Internet presence, and so much more. I’ve seen time and again the commission-cutters who only list the house with no photo on the MLS, put a sign in the yard (maybe) and that’s it. You definitely get what you pay for. Don’t ever hesitate to ask a Realtor what they do to earn their commission… you’d be surprised at the work that goes in to selling your home!
